When you are a team leader, a broker, owner, partner or an office manager you have signed on for a leadership position, with leadership there is responsibility. Some actually think that because they have this title that they can do less, in fact the opposite is true you must now do more.
As a leader you must, guess what lead, you must lead by example, if you show up late so will your team, if you do not perform you will most likely be left with only non performers, If someone fail to do it then you must do it, all the slack falls to the leader, you know the saying birds of a feather flock together, well its true performers don’t hang out with non-performers very long.
Many people think that because they have the office with the view that people will follow or because they have money, power or fame. Well let me assure you that people will look closely at you, your performance, character, your money or fame will only get you noticed for a fleeting moment. Just check out the many celebrities, most people just gawk at them, wishing they wouldn’t open their mouths and embarrass themselves. The intelligent don’t take them too seriously. Why? Most lack the needed character to be taken seriously by the intelligent world. And rest assured people will not follow you for long in the business world either unless you have the characteristics of a leader
Ask yourself how you would score with these three traits. On a scale of one to ten, ten being high and the higher you score the more, people you will be able to influence and the more that will follow you.
