Planned Abandonment

There is a saying in real estate, “You don’t need to re invent the wheel.” For the most part I believe that to be true, there are thousands of pro’s who went before us, we just need to do as they do and follow their examples, to achieve success. I also believe that at times we need to think on our own and have “planned abandonment” This is a term that I heard Craig Groeschel who is the founding and Senior Pastor of LifeChurch.tv use in his speech during the 2008 Willow Creek Leadership Summit that I was fortunate enough to attend.

What Craig Groeschel meant by this was simple, If we never experiment with new ideas the world would never change. In order for changes, better systems, goods, services and techniques to happen, you must implement your plan. In some circumstances you may have to abandon one that may not be working well and introduce another method of achieving the desired result. You don’t go out and totally gut your systems you take one piece at a time.

When you have an idea without the budget look at your overall marketing and see what piece you can abandon to be able to implement your new idea. Remember if you do not get the desired results within a specific time frame, review the results and have a plan to abandon, which will open the door for new ideas.
