Excellence Doesn’t Always Lead To Success.

Seems like a strange statement doesn’t it? Well it’s true from time to time I am blessed to see and feel that excellence, and at the same time I see this very excellence fail. So you might ask why strive for excellence? The most compelling reason that I know of is the way it makes us feel. Giving it you’re all, and by doing so regardless of the score at the end of the day, those who do usually go home and feel satisfied with their efforts.

Historian Charles Kendall Adams Who was president of Cornell University observed. “No one ever attains very eminent success by simply doing what is required of him; it is the amount of excellence of what is over and above the required that determines greatness.” John Maxwell writes in Talent Is Never Enough all accomplishments begin with the willingness to try and then some. The difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary is the extra. A little extra effort always gives the person an edge. Art Williams the founder of Primerica Financial Services told John Maxwell, “You beat fifty percent of the people in America by working hard; you beat forty percent by being a person of honesty and integrity and standing for something; and the last ten percent is a dogfight in the free enterprise system.” If you want to win the dogfight do a little extra.

People who pursue excellence do fail, but they do not take it as hard as those who have not pursued this level of performance in their professional life, and as a result these performers usually get back on their feet very quickly and turn in a winning performance in the area of their chosen endeavor.

In Encarta Dictionary: excellence is defined as SUPERIORITY the quality or state of being outstanding and superior. With that definition alone is there any doubt in your mind why in real estate and any other profession for that matter, that they get hired with such frequency, get the job done, and are much more likely to have greater income, be admired and treated with much more respect
