I often hear others say, gee that guy got lucky on that deal. Nothing could be further from the truth. Success happens when preparedness and opportunity meet. The prepared do make it look easy, what most people do not see is what has gone on behind the curtain and the hard work prior to the opportunity coming about.
In Launching a Leadership Revolution by Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward write; Success will not come easy, and if it does, it’s not really success. Those who win the lottery often lose their winnings within a few years and end up further behind financially than before they bought the ticket. This is because they learned nothing and had no personal growth that earned the wealth, without the lessons that earning wealth brings, wealth cannot be held.
Success exacts a price, but it also delivers a prize. There will always be an exchange of effort for reward. Performers know that nothing good comes easy, nor do they expect things to happen overnight. They know that success is always located on the other side of inconvenience. Becoming a performer requires a maturity that works for something not yet seen, has faith in an outcome only imagined, and persists when others quit. Effort fully releases its reward only after a person refuses to quit. Persistence is key, Robert Strauss said of success. “It’s a little like wrestling a Gorilla. You don’t quit when you’re tired, you quit when the gorilla is tired.”
Just remember when you are feeling tired, remind yourself that success only comes through your perciverence.
