Many people over the last several years, in fact most got into real estate to make a quick buck. To them it was all about the commission. Today we see most of those agents dropping their license as though they had just touched a hot stove and many of those so called 100% companies are closing their doors just as quickly.
Now I don’t want to leave you with the impression that everyone jumped on board to make a quick buck and that all companies that offer 100% lack the support and systems to be a success. Many joined the traditional company that offered support, training desk space without the huge monthly fees. Those companies even though their sales volumes are down from the boom times, which is to be expected, they are still in business and doing well.
These companies have laid solid foundations, fairness in compensation and good support. Whereas many of the start up companies, attracted, hired the wrong people because of over compensation, the new hires were in it for the quick buck, not dedicated career minded agents, and those joined companies offering lower compensation in exchange for education. These agents who focused solely on compensation never understood the principal that you must learn before you can earn. These new start up companies almost always had a bad business plan, poor leadership and inexperienced Brokers, who themselves had never been performers and had a week track records in real estate sales. Without a track record of performance how could they possibly train, lead and build a successful team.
I have watched the older companies in Southeast Florida, and those that stuck to the basics of recruiting the right people, training them and deliver the support needed, they are still going strong as they adjust to the market. These are the companies that have long and proven track records and who will, as always be around when the storm clouds blow over.
The point I make here is simple, always follow and learn from the successful, whether it be company or individual. Success is rarely about the split you get in life, it’s all in your dedication and commitment to lay your solid foundation. The big splits will come when you have become a real estate star and proven performer, just like the star athletes and business people.
So I suggest to you that both Broker and Agents focus on a plan to build this foundation.
