Developing Leaders

Level 4 Developing Leaders
Level 4 leaders understand the power of duplication, whereas a level 3 leader must be present with his or her team in order to achieve success, Level 4 leaders get success even when they are not around. They understand the effectiveness of duplication.

Level 4 Leaders know that recognition is the most valuable motivator. The leader is widely recognized as an expert in their field, and is willing to share it with the team. Level 4 leaders know that the reason most people perform is for the very recognition and praise that is bestowed upon them. As the saying goes “Babies Cry for it and grown men die for it.”

Level 4 leaders compel people to get result activity breeds ability, confidence, and experience. There are several qualities to look for when determining who to mentor and train. Ross Perot has a simple list. Look for people who are:
Smart
Tough
Self reliant
Have a record of achievement since childhood
Love to win

Pastor Doug Murren said leaders come from the ranks of people who have the following:
The innovative urge
An above average passion for principle
A need for affirmation that is much lower than average
A high level of curiosity
A track record of mastering failure.

Level 5 developing Leaders who Develop Leaders
Level 5 Leadership is about making a difference in the status quo that outlives the leader. Level 5 leaders begin by attracting, inspiring and enabling other leaders who are adept at developing other leaders.
Level 5 lraders understand that results will come through endurance and succession of the vision and the leaders are intertwined. The size of the vision, is its enduring legacy, and successful continuation is in the hands of other leaders which is the fruit of a level 5 leader's efforts. Level 5 leaders are only as good as the enduring qualiy and succession of their vision. Level 5 leaders get so wrapped up in their cause that they come to embody that very cause. The leader is almost lost inside the vision.
Gil Bailie said, "Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive."

This short overview of the 5 levels of leadership has been taken out of Chris Brady and Orrin Woodward Launching a Leadership Revolution Highly recommended reading for everyone especially if you have, or thinking of building a team.
